Project Overview

After evaluating various design options, the client concluded that retaining parts of the original building was not feasible, leading to the decision for complete demolition and the requirement for a construction ready site to commence work on the new centre in 2025.

Project Requirements

In summary, Weaver Demolition’s key responsibilities during the project were:

• Internal strip out of all fixtures and furnishings to enable a cleaner demolition process
• Demolition of all structures
• Removal of slabs and foundations
• Crushing and stockpile of hardcore to 6F2 specification for reuse on site
• Re-profile of site including the removal of over 7000m3 of soils
• Installation of site capping layer and construction formation using predominantly site won processed aggregates.

Environmental Impact

With the building and foundations removed the majority of materials were processed and crushed on site. The main aim was to divert as much material as possible from landfill which involved reusing on site as a primary aggregate or ensuring it could be recycled in the most efficient way possible off site. The on-site recycling also minimised the movement of lorries around the site needing to transport materials off-site.

Project Summary

Weaver Demolition’s on-site crushing and screening capabilities offered a substantial cost advantage over traditional methods. By processing demolition waste into usable aggregate, we eliminated the need for expensive material removal and replacement, resulting in significant savings.

On completion of the project, Weaver Demolition delivered a construction ready site. The project was de-risked by carrying out demolition and enabling works in a standalone package.

The new Destination Porsche Centre Bristol is set to open its doors in late 2025, promising to exceed expectations and elevate the customer experience.
