Our Projects
Throughout the year, we have undertaken numerous projects that have showcased our expertise and commitment to excellence. From large-scale demolition of commercial buildings to intricate dismantling of historical structures, our team has consistently demonstrated their skill, precision, and dedication to delivering exceptional results. Each project has presented its own unique challenges, but through collaboration and innovation, we have successfully overcome them all, leaving a lasting impact on the landscape of our community.
A stand-out project for us this year was the work completed at Bristol Beacon. This historic concert hall in Bristol recently underwent a £48.8m transformation to become one of the premier performance spaces in Europe. Weaver Demolition’s extensive experience in complex demolition projects and our understanding of the challenges of working on a listed building made us the ideal choice for this project. The venue is set to re-open this month and Weaver Demolition is proud to have played a crucial role in this redevelopment project. Read the full case study here.
At Silverthorne Lane in Bristol’s Temple Quarter, Weaver Demolition undertook a large scale project to clear 11 buildings located across an 8 acre site. One of the key achievements of this project was diverting 99.6% of arisings from landfill either through on-site re-use, recycling of materials on and off-site or working with our local supply chain.
A full temporary works design was installed for the retention of listed structures. This allowed us to safely work around these structures while preserving their historical significance.
Our close working partnership with the client was instrumental in the success of the project. By phasing the handover of the site, we were able to reduce the overall development programme and ensure a smooth transition between demolition and construction phases.
Overall, this project showcased our commitment to sustainability, preservation, and collaboration, and we are proud of the results we achieved.
At the Stroud Housing project in Gloucester, Weaver Demolition undertook a 24 week programme that saw the demolition of 55 units across 3 sites to make way for new social housing. The project included service isolations, site setup, asbestos removal, strip out, demolition, and on-site crushing, with material graded on site for re-use.
In Cornwall, Weaver Demolition were employed to act as Principal contractor for a large section of enabling works on Cornwall College’s Camborne campus. From lights off to a clear site, we carried out all works inclusive of service diversions and isolations, asbestos removal, soft-strip, mechanical demolition, lifting of slabs, and clearance of arisings. Finally, the site was capped with topsoil and re-seeded giving back vibrant green space for all students and staff at the college to enjoy.
Although the above projects sit in the limelight, we also carried out a vast array of other projects ranging in size and scope. These works have included structural alterations, soft strip, residential and commercial demolitions, and many standalone crushing and screening projects to assist our clients in their sustainability and re-use targets. Our HGV fleet have worked hard to support our demolition operations as well as carrying our heavy goods movements, material and waste transport across the south for our valued clients.
Supporting our Community
Beyond our projects, we have also made it a priority to give back to the community that has supported us throughout the years and have actively engaged in various community support initiatives. Whether it was volunteering our time and resources to local charities, sponsoring community teams and events or providing opportunities to aspiring professionals, we have strived to make a positive impact on the lives of those around us.
We are pleased to have continued to support the Somer Valley Food Bank again this year. Part of a nationwide network of foodbanks, supported by The Trussell Trust who work to combat poverty and hunger across the UK, Somer Valley provide nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to local people. Weaver Demolition is proud to support this project alongside a number of local schools, churches, businesses and individuals.
This year, Weaver Demolition has also sponsored Southmead Football Club who play in the Premier Division of the Bristol & Suburban league. Our sponsorship enables the club to purchase vital equipment which includes kit, training bibs, balls and goal nets.
Southmead’s right-wing back is a valued member of the Weaver Demolition team, and so this sponsorship aligns with our philosophy of supporting the health and wellbeing of our employees. We believe that encouraging and supporting outside interests not only promotes a healthy lifestyle but also fosters a sense of camaraderie and teamwork, which in turn positively impacts performance and job satisfaction.
Investing in our team
And finally, this year we recruited our first apprentice for the Demolition Apprenticeship scheme run by the National Demolition Training Group (NDTG) and London South East Colleges. Harry initially carried out a week of work experience with us in the summer of 2022 and joined our team full time in July this year after successfully completing his GCSEs.
Over the next 2 years Harry will gain a vast amount of qualifications and experience working alongside our teams out on site, before qualifying as a CCDO Demolition Labourer.
Investing in Harry is not only a testament to his talent and potential but also a reflection of our commitment to investing in our workforce. We believe in supporting local talent and providing opportunities for growth and advancement. By training Harry straight from school and investing in his development, we hope to not only retain him as a valuable member of our team but also contribute to his long-term success.
We are excited to see Harry’s journey unfold and look forward to witnessing his growth as a skilled professional in the demolition industry.
In conclusion
None of these achievements would have been possible without the unwavering dedication and expertise of our incredible staff. Their hard work, professionalism, and passion for what they do have been the driving force behind our success. From our skilled demolition crews to our project manages, support staff and suppliers, each member of our team has played a vital role in ensuring the smooth execution of our projects and the satisfaction of our clients.
