The job began with a soft-strip of the unit, which was on the 2nd floor of a live hospital building. Following this, we re-configured the unit layout by way of internal demolition. This allowed us to begin structural alterations, which helped to make way for a modern, specially designed ward unit that included a flexible working space area.
During the design and planning stage, it was important for us to liaise and consult with the client regularly. Doing this aided in us producing an accurate and effective programme methodology and work sequence.
The hospital needed to continue operations on the live ward block below, and so we helped make this possible by providing an efficient, specifically adapted demolition and engineering sequence. Our use of specialist soundproofing and dust suppression equipment further helped by keeping nuisance levels to a minimum, something that was especially important to them.
Even more, by using ‘just in time’ deliveries and collections, and carrying out our steel fabrication and erections inhouse, we were able to meet tight logistical constraints and negate any typical delays that could have arisen from any design changes during the construction phase.
Weaver Demolition’s re-configuring of the ward enabled the installation of modern hospital equipment and an open-plan, flexible workspace, which is now adaptable to the client’s ever-changing demands.
