Prior to a multi-million-pound redevelopment of Plymouth’s city centre Museum and History Centre, Weaver Demolition were employed to carry out the soft strip, asbestos removal and complete and partial demolition of multiple buildings.

Workshop buildings were demolished in their entirety including the removal of all slabs and footings under an archaeological watch and brief. The former museum and library buildings were completely stripped out, with a steel frame roof removed from the library.
Approximately 50% of the museum building had to be demolished. To enable this, a full temporary works propping system was designed and installed to support the structure whilst it was split to facilitate the partial demolition.
Following all demolition works, a 4000m3 reduce excavation was carried out to engineered levels in preparation for the new build.
